SVVA Events

Silicon Valley Visual Arts hosts In-person Silicon Valley Open Studios in the Spring and Virtual Open Studios in the Fall.

In-Person Spring Event

The Spring Silicon Valley Open Studios events has been happening for over 35 years (except 2020) and has included 200+ artists all over the Bay Area. It is designed to give the community an opportunity to meet locals artists, see their studios and talk to them about their work during these designated weekends. They can see a larger body of work from artists than they could in shows or galleries. Throughout this free event, they can enjoy a vast variety of visual expression, including painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, jewelry, calligraphy, ceramics, fiber arts, pottery, mosaics, metal work, glass, drawing, printmaking, watercolor, woodworking and many more unique and creative one-of-a-kind works of art.

Silicon Valley Open Studios gives local artists the opportunity to open up their studios to the public, sell their art and help promote the local art community. Open Studios is inclusive of all levels of visual artists from young and emerging artists to experienced and professional artists.

Virtual Fall Show & Sale

Our virtual event was created in 2020 from necessity due to the pandemic, but the response was so good that we decided to keep it as an annual event. A fully virtual show, artists provide a limited number of pieces for sale that are posted and sold through the SVVA online store.

Our inaugural event in 2020 benefited Second Harvest Food Bank, by giving artists the option to donate a portion of their sales to help feed those in our community affected by the pandemic.

A second virtual event was held in the Spring of 2021 (in lieu of an in-person show due to COVID) benefiting Drawbridge, a non-profit organization that provides children who are under served or are experiencing homelessness an opportunity to build self-confidence and experience joy through expressive art.

We Need Your Help!

SVVA is a volunteer run organization and we have exciting opportunities for artists and art lovers who want to help make Open Studios a success each year. Individuals can assist in many ways, and often expand their own professional skills while supporting the organization. For example, volunteers can help in several areas including:

– social media — helping promote our events through Instagram, Facebook and more
– regional promotions — distributing flyers, finding local venues for pre-event art show, etc
– hosting — offering additional space for other artists to show
– proofreading — helping to proofread the directory
– sponsorships – finding advertisers and sponsors for the directory

Please send an e-mail to volunteer@svos.org or see the list opportunities where you can help.
