I grew up drawing, painting, and sculpting with my artist father and sisters and studied Art in college in the 1980s. After teaching elementary school for 29 years, I had the opportunity to reinvent myself, and began painting in earnest in the spring of 2017.
For me, painting is a way to practice mindfulness, draw attention to social and environmental issues, and to share her experience and love of nature with others. Whether I’m plein air painting out in a field, or sketching a model, or working in my little home studio, the worries and troubles of life fade, and I can enter a state of flow. All that exists for a few hours are the light, the patterns, the shapes, the feeling of the place or the image.
My work ranges from simple line drawings and still life and animal studies to landscapes and abstract creations.
